Welcome To Shenandoah Living magazine, the Valley’s first full-color feature lifestyle publication.

The e-mail went something like this: “By the way, do you ever still think about starting a magazine.” The response was the best part: “All the time.”

And so began the process of developing the Valley’s first full-color, glossy, feature lifestyle magazine, Shenandoah Living, and this companion online magazine, shenandoahmagazine.com. Shenandoah Living magazine was conceived many years ago, an idea that never took root but that lingered in our imaginations and nagged us as we considered the possibility. What we envisioned: a beautiful, colorful, high quality magazine that reflects the stunning beauty of the Shenandoah Valley, the place so many visit, and the place we are so fortunate to call home.

So the e-mail exchanged happened, and the nagging got even more persistent. We met over coffee, made plans, worried our spouses with financial details and endured some hurdles to get the first issue out in Summer 2007.

Our goal is the same now as when we conceived the idea: to display in words and pictures the beauty of our region’s people and places, both for those of us who live here and for those who come to enjoy our Valley.

From the unusual process of throwing clay into an open fire and ashes to make Raku, to the accounts of history’s near forgotten local figures, places and events, Shenandoah Living magazine covers the people, places and happenings in Our Valley.

Plus, check out our calendar for some of the events happening in our region during the coming months.

For now, though, why not pour yourself a tall glass of something delectable and explore a slice of Shenandoah Living.
